Installing a Sound- and Light system in the new community hall

Project Installing a Sound- and Light system in the new community hall
Start 1st May 2010
Completion November 2011
Status FINISHED!

18th November 2011
4 weeks of intense work - characterized by high scaffoldings, creative compromises between what we planned and what the circumstances allowed, and long, work-filled nights.
Hundreds of solder connections, far beyond a thousand meters of cables, several thousand watts of lights, adventurous constructions either to work on them or to hang speakers or lights on them.
2 weeks with Mario, who had a hard time saying good bye after this great time (I already got a number of letters from children to send them to him :-)).
4 weeks with the two Florians (also called "Big Flo" and "Small Flo" for easy distinction) who really helped to finish the project in time.
4 weeks (which is the whole time of installing!) without power! Our transformer got burned and the local power provider was not able to replace it as fast as we would expect it in Europe... We were dependant on our Generator, which had to work for long hours and serve us even up to late night.
Help from all over the ministry - the joinery made the furniture, the builders built the FoH (mixer area), the metal works department who patiently helped us in welding different things, the carpentry built the scaffolding (which in the beginning really appeared shaky to us - but honestly, now that they have removed it again, we are already missing it, it had become something like a second home to us these days :-))

One and a half years of planning, ordering, waiting for the container to arrive and finally installing the system.
But today is a very special day: This evening we will officially inaugurate the new system with a "Community Evening" for the whole ministry!

We are really thankful and looking forward for the new possibilities we now have!

3rd November 2011
Since 10 days we are now working on the installation of the new sound system! Even 2 former Volunteers have come back again to help us for 5 weeks in this work.
Another very great blessing to us is Mario, a professional sound engineer who also came to Uganda for two weeks! Mario had already helped us a lot in developing the first ideas, planning the system and selecting and ordering the fitting equipment last year in June. At that time he also came up with the idea to see whether he could even come over to visit us in Uganda and help in installing the system.
We are so thankful to his family and his employer that both released him now for these two weeks so that he could really com here! God is good!

We are now well-placed to meet the challenge of installing everything whith the possibilities we have here in Uganda - which is really not always easy :-)

Below you find some pictures of our work in the hall.

22nd August 2011
We have finally received the container with all the equipment! Preparations for the setup have already started and a professional sound ingeneer from Germany is planning to come over in November to help us install everything well.

We are coming closer to our goal!

18th January 2011
Unfortunately the container is delayed and we now expect it in August 2011. Pray with us that everything will arrive in a good condition!
After the tour of our Vision Choir we will start setting up the sound system.

The Lord has allowed us to build a beautiful community hall for 1,500 people. We are already over 800 persons in the compound and we had no place where we all could meet for daily devotions, conferences or other happenings.
Now that we could build this hall, we already had some conferences there (see news or chronicle 2010), we have our daily morning devotions there with all staff, we meet once in a month for our "community evening" and many more events are planned for the future.

Right now we have a very lousy sound system (which we are also thankful for - it is better than nothing). But it is our desire to have many events (both academic and spiritual) for the community in this hall and for this we need a good sound and light system and even projection of pictures, song texts or even movies.
Our wonderful sound technician Lukas Vana has with the help of other experts put together the program and we would like to bring all the equipment with the next container from europe. We are overwhelmed how expensive all these technical things are, especially since we want something good and durable: the system will cost us about 30.000 Euros! But we trust that this hall will be a great blessing to our children, our neighbours, students and the whole community through conferences, Worship events and other meetings that will take place there.

If the Lord lays it on your heart and you have joy to do so, we would be very thankful if you choose to support us financially in this project. (Intended purpose: "sound equipment community hall", for account details click here)

The Lord bless and keep you and make His face shine upon you.
In the Master’s Service with great joy and gratitude,

Maria L. Prean with team

27th July 2010
The carpentry has finished all the furniture! In the past days we could put them in place and do final corrections.
Now we have to be patient until the container arrives that will bring all the equipment. It will leave Europe in August and we hope it will arrive latest by November, than we can start installing the system!
