The 16th of July/2010 will never be erased from the history of Mount Galilee Children’s Ministry for on this day, the foundation stone of Mount Galilee Kindergarten has been laid. The occasion originally planned to take place early this year finally took place on Friday, 16th/July/2010 with the occasion kicking off at 10:00 am local time. The celebrations were graced by the Arch Bishop of the Church of Uganda – the Most Rev. Henry Luke Orombi who praised the Lord and thanked the Mount Galilee team for the wonderful work.
The Kindergarten which was started in January of this year in one of the poorest places in Uganda, is now responsible for over 100 children some of whom ministered on the occasion in beautiful songs and dances that left visitors amazed at the great work the teachers have been able to do to turn around formerly pale faces into faces beaming with joy, hope and confidence.
The occasion begun with powerful worship and praise, followed by a welcome message from Mr. Allan Ssuuna – the Director of Mount Galilee Kindergarten and MC for the day. Mr. Allan thanked the Arch Bishop for daring the dusty road that leads to the school and thanked God for Mama Maria who has invested her life in the lives of thousands of needy and orphaned children. In her speech, Mama Maria praised the Mount Galilee team for the great work and honored Mr. Allan for his good leadership.
In his message to a congregation of jubilant guardians and curious invited guests, the Arch Bishop implored women to acknowledge their potential in influencing and shaping lives especially of children. After his message, he commissioned the Mount Galilee team before moving on to unveil the foundation stone for Mount Galilee Kindergarten.
At the end of the day, as visitors walked out the gates of the school, I overheard a guest make a comment that summed up the whole event,
“Who could ever imagine that something like this could ever happen in our area!”
What a wonderful way to wind-up such a landmark event!
